Hazel Wood
Robinson
Dec 6, 1926 — Jun 16, 2024
Hazel Wood Robinson, a beacon of love and gentleness, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at the Baptist Home in Rhinebeck, NY.
Born on December 6, 1926, in Malta, NY, she was the daughter of the late Roy C. and Bertha Johnson Miller. She married Howell J. "Rob" Robinson on October 26, 1952, in Connecticut.
Hazel, who lived a full and friendly life, left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her. She was cherished by many, including her sons, Jay and Tim Robinson; her grandchildren, Justin, Jamie, Laura, Elise, Erik, Daniel Robinson, Piper McDermott, and Robert Mahler; and her five great-grandchildren. Hazel was born into a family that instilled in her the values of kindness and community, values she carried throughout her life.
Before retiring, Hazel dedicated many years as a secretary at Haviland Junior High School in Hyde Park, NY, where she was not just an employee but a cherished member of the school community. Her warmth and professionalism left a lasting impression on both colleagues and students alike. Hazel's commitment to service extended beyond her professional life as she was an active and devoted member of The United Methodist Church of Hyde Park. She also volunteered for many years at the Vanderbilt Rose Garden and the Northern Dutchess Hospital Women's Auxiliary.
Hazel's interests were as diverse and passionate. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life and had an uncanny ability to spread that joy to others. Her loving nature was the thread that wove her family together, creating a tapestry of memories that will forever be cherished.
Hazel deeply loved her family, and that love has become an integral part of who they are. Her gentle spirit and friendly demeanor were not just attributes but a way of life that touched everyone she met.
Hazel was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband "Rob" Robinson, who passed away on August 30, 2013, her daughter Holly Ann Wood, and her brother Robert D. Miller. The legacy of Hazel's love and kindness will live on through her family and the many lives she touched. She will be profoundly missed, yet her light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew her.
In remembrance of Hazel Miller Robinson, let us celebrate the life of a woman who exemplified love and friendship. Her story does not end with her passing but continues in the lives of those she loved and the countless moments of joy and kindness she shared. Cremation took place at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Graveside funeral services took place at 10 am on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Union Cemetery, Hyde Park.
