Gianfranco
Zuccaretti
Dec 2, 1957 — May 13, 2024
Gianfranco Zuccaretti, 66, of Coram, NY, passed away at Good Shepherd Hospice Catholic Health Facility surrounded by his family on Monday, May 13, 2024, after a brave battle with cancer.
Gianfranco was born on December 2, 1957, in Fiumicino-Rome, Italy. He was the son of the late Francesco and Concetta (Sirica) Zuccaretti.
As a young man in Italy, he enjoyed owning different cars and racing around on his motorcycle with his brother. As an adult in Italy, Gianfranco owned a produce store before working in the automotive industry. He then immigrated to the United States in 1989. At 32 years old, he and his brother, Marco, arrived in the U.S and settled in the Bronx before moving to Cold Spring, NY.
Gianfranco met his other half and best friend, Patricia Scanga, in 1989, after a short time living in Cold Spring. They got married on August 23, 1992 and had three daughters. They built a beautiful life together and proudly owned many pizzerias and restaurants throughout the Hudson Valley.
Gianfranco was well known for his quick wit and infectious enthusiasm. He never failed to make others laugh. He enjoyed cooking for family gatherings and would always cook extra for those who had no place to go on holidays- without a doubt, he always let it be known that all were always welcome at his table. He had a way of making his customers always feel like family when they walked through his doors. He was loved by the communities he served and would never turn down an opportunity to donate to those less fortunate than him, even if it meant he was left with nothing for himself.
Gianfranco worked hard his whole life, and any spare time he had was spent with his family. He was a proud father of three daughters and would do absolutely anything for them, working his whole life for their successes and happiness. He also loved spending any moment he could with his grandchildren, who he affectionately called Seb and Nina. They were his pride and joy.
Gianfranco is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Patricia (Scanga), his three daughters, Valentina Zuccaretti, Victoria Barcia and her husband, Brian, and Nathalie Nameth and her husband, Matthew, his two grandchildren, Sebastian and Gianinna, his brother, Marco Zuccaretti and his wife, Dawn, his two sisters, Anna Zuccaretti, and Ornella DiPadova and her husband, Luciano, and his mother-in-law, Yolanda Scanga, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins in Italy, France, and the U.S.
Gianfranco's legacy is one of kindness, love, strength, and public service. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
On behalf of the Zuccaretti Family, they would like to thank the exceptional team of doctors, nurses, and staff at Stony Brook University Hospital and Good Shepherd Hospice for all the love, care, and support they provided to Gianfranco and his family.
