On March 24, 2022, Gerard T. Sadoski, 77, passed away suddenly at home, due to natural causes.
Born in Shamokin, PA., he was the first son of the late Edward and Rita Sadoski.
Gerard enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at age 17, and served as a missile technician during the peak years of the Cold War.
Gerry, as he was known to his friends, moved to the Hudson Valley in 1971, where he began his teaching career at Arlington Central School District (Poughkeepsie, NY).
In 1987, he became a middle school principal at Taconic Hills Central School District (Hillsdale, NY), where he retired in 1998.
For the next four years he was an instructor and student supervisor at Mt. St. Mary College (Newburgh, NY), and Marist College (Poughkeepsie, NY).
He was a tinkerer, hobbyist, do-it-your-selfer and jack-of-all-trades.
He mastered the craft of stone wall construction, and his work can be seen along Albany Post Road.
His memory was incredibly sharp, and he was a voracious reader. If you wanted to discuss history and politics, you needed to have your facts ready.
He was a member of any fraternal order or social club that would be willing to have him. He especially enjoyed the company of his friends.
Gerry was preceded in death by his wife Christine, in 2006. They were married for 40 years.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Christina; six grandchildren, Aidan, Colin, Ethan, Keira, Gemma and Rowan; and two brothers Darrell Sadoski and David Sadoski.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 2nd, from 10am to 1pm, at Sweet's Funeral Home, 4365 Albany Post Rd. Hyde Park.
Interment funeral at All Saints Cemetery (Elysburg, PA) will occur at a future date.
