Geraldine May Macleary, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Stanfordville, New York, on January 22, 2026, at the age of 98.

Known affectionately as Gerry by her family and friends, she was born on January 6, 1928, in Dover, New Hampshire, to the late William and Sarah Cullen. In 1955, she married her devoted husband, Richard Macleary, in Cherry Point, North Carolina. The couple recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in November 2025.

As a Marine family, Gerry and Richard lived on various military bases across the country before settling in Hyde Park, New York. There they raised their two daughters and built a warm and loving home. Gerry worked for the Hyde Park School District in the cafeteria, a role that allowed her to be present for her daughters during their formative years.

Gerry had a passion for golf and enjoyed many rounds with her husband and friends. She remained active in a women's golf league well into her late 80s.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Richard; daughters Debra and Kendall Lyon, and Susan and Raymond Kennett; grandchildren Kelsey and Ben Hecht, Mackenzie and Dan White, Raymond and Beth Kennett, Andrew and Jill Kennett, and Ryan and Aymee Kennett; great-grandchildren Ian, Annie, Amelia, and Ava; niece and nephew Sally and Norm Cote; and Paul and Claire Bruyere. She was predeceased by her brothers Arthur and Donald Cullen and sisters Dorothy and Beatrice.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sweet's Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.

Her love, strength, and the cherished memories she created will remain in our hearts forever.
