Gail Elaine
Curcio
Nov 24, 1938 — Oct 3, 2026
Heaven's choir just gained an epic soprano and virtuoso piano player today. Gail Elaine Curcio, age 87, of Millbrook, NY passed away peacefully on 10/3/26 leaving a hole in our hearts as the matriarch of the Curcio family from the Poughkeepsie area.
Gail was the embodiment of love, laughter and generosity of spirit for her surviving children, Cathy Lamoree (Gino Gemmati), Tim (Mary) Curcio, Tom (Kit) Curcio as well as her six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Patrick Curcio (Pop Pop) who will be waiting for her at the gate with a pot of sauce and a deck of cards. She is also preceded in death by her brothers David Sigler and Greg Sigler. Her remaining brother William (Linda) Sigler is also mourning her loss.
Born in Stamford CT on November 24,1938, Gail graduated salutatorian of her high school class at Mother of God Academy. As a young mother of three, she graduated 7th in her class from Sacred Heart University. Polishing off her education, she earned her MBA in Finance from UConn. Her professional career spanned many financial management roles, including at Nantucket Navigation in Old Greenwich and World Bank in Stuart, Florida. Her tremendous work ethic and professional capability enabled her to hold down the fort and anchor the family through good and sometimes challenging times.
An accomplished artist, Gail began her own "Memories in Miniature" company which spanned the 1990's. Her tender-hearted, miniature scenes captured her reverence for the old fashioned moments that make us all feel good. Townscapes, Christmas scenes, portraits and pets were some of her favorite subjects for her oil paintings.
One of her portraits of the Seminole Indians was selected to appear in the Governor's house in Florida. Her handpainted notecards brought joy to hundreds of customers during the holiday season.
When she wasn't painting or crafting, Gail could often be found singing in her church choir or playing her impressive repertoire of old standards on her piano which brought warmth, happiness and joy to family friends over the years and more recently for the residents at the Fountains in Millbrook where she finished out her years.
Truly a renaissance woman, there was not much Gail couldn't do. Write a term paper if you get in a crunch, rearrange the furniture in your room if you are tired of it; put fringe or flowers on anything to bring out its natural beauty. Her ability to listen to loved ones and impart her sage advice or sarcastic wit helped all of us feel so loved, revered and important in her world.
We will hear your contagious laugh forever Nana and are infinitely grateful to you for your strength, perseverance, humor and love that we will forever carry in our hearts.
A Funeral Mass will take place on October Friday October 9th at 9:30am at St. Martin de Porres, 118 Cedar Valley Rd. Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
In lieu of flowers, Gail's family respectfully request memorial donations to the Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation, 80 Washington St., Suite 204, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. (www.hvhospice.org)
