Frances M. Plass, 78, a lifelong area resident, died unexpectedly at home in Hyde Park on May 18, 2023.

Born November 12, 1944, in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of Michael and Gertrude Roger Stevensky. She was a graduate of Arlington High School.

Fran worked as a secretary for over 25 years at Dutchess County BOCES, retiring in 2007. At one time, she also worked in the registration office at Vassar Brothers Hospital.

Mrs. Plass enjoyed going to yard sales and trips to the casino with her husband.

On January 17, 1965, in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Pleasant Valley, she married Harold N. Plass. Mr. Plass survives at home.

In addition to her husband, Fran is survived by her son, Michael Plass and partner, Christine Howlett, of Hyde Park; daughter, Carrie Champion and husband, Fred, of Brewster; grandchildren, Trevor Grieb, Halle Champion, and Austin Champion (Celina); and great grandchildren, Charlie and Emmie Champion.

She is also survived by her two sisters, Barbara Kallas of Georgia and Marion Stevensky and partner, Wayne Scheltmeyer, of Highland; and many nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place.

Memorial calling hours will be from 4 to 7 Pm, Thursday, May 25th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

A celebration of Fran's life will take place at 6:30 PM during the visitation. Rev. Arlene Dawber will officiate.
