Obituary

Florence L. Lee, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2024, in Hyde Park, NY. Born on January 23, 1941, in Pittsfield, MA,  she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Florence Hopper. Florence spent her formative years in the town that would always hold a special place in her heart. A proud graduate of St. Joseph's High School, class of 1959, she carried the values of her education throughout her life, touching the hearts of all who knew her.

Florence, known affectionately by friends and family as simply "Flo" was a gentle soul whose life was defined by her unwavering kindness and devotion to her loved ones. She was the cherished wife of Thomas L. Lee.  They married on September 5, 1959, Pittsfield, MA.  Thomas with whom she built a life full of love and laughter in Hyde Park, NY, survives. Together, they created a family that was her pride and joy.

Her legacy includes her devoted children: Thomas L. Lee and his wife Linda of Clifton Park, NY, Colleen L. Kelly and her husband Michael of Hyde Park, NY, Jeffrey P. Lee and his wife Melinda of Hyde Park, NY, and William J. Lee and his wife Susan of Hyde Park, NY. She was a beloved sister to Joseph Hopper and his wife Donna, FL, Richard Hopper and his wife Joann Heffernan of Rhode Island, and Deborah McDermott and her husband Brian, of Pittsfield, MA.

Florence was a loving grandmother to nine grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew and Daniel Lee, Nicole McKillop, Jenna Kelly, Caitlyn Kimmerle, Carolyn Lee, Meagan, and Kevin Lee.  who will miss her gentle spirit and unconditional love. She also had the joy of welcoming a great-grandson, Rory McKillop into the world, whose early memories will be cherished and nurtured by the stories shared by the family.

Florence was predeceased by her brother, Timothy Hopper, whose memory remained dear to her heart. Her absence will leave a void in the lives of her family and friends, but they take comfort in knowing that she is reunited with those who went before her.

Throughout her life, Florence embodied the essence of selflessness. Whether it was through her quiet support or her ability to listen and offer wisdom, she was a constant source of comfort to those around her. Her gentle demeanor was a testament to her inner strength and her capacity for unconditional love.

Her passing is not just a loss to her family, but to the community that she enriched with her presence. Florence's life was a tapestry of the relationships she nurtured and the countless lives she touched with her warmth and generosity.

As we say goodbye to Florence L. Lee, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life filled with love, and a life that exemplified the best of humanity. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and selflessness will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

Florence's family will carry forward her spirit of love, cherishing the memories they made together and honoring her life by embodying the virtues she exemplified. In the whisper of the trees and the laughter of children, Florence's presence will be felt, reminding us all to live with kindness and to love without reservation.
