May 21, 1927 — Sep 4, 2026
Florence M. Creeden, 99, passed away peacfully at home on September 4, 2026.
Born May 21, 1927, in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of the late Anna V. Vanek and Felix S. Ladzinski.
A graduate of Poughkeepsie High School, Florence married C. Albert "Al" Creeden on December 29, 1945, at St. John's Catholic Church.
For several years, Flo was employed by the New York Telephone Company and served as a secretary at Schatz Federal Bearing Company for 12 years. She also worked for several local doctors and, for many years, helped in the administration office at St. Peter's.
Flo was an avid Jeopardy! fan, movie buff, and Scrabble player. She loved spending time with friends in Florida and with the many local friends who kept her on the move. Flo and Al enjoyed trips to the casinos and loved to dress up and dance. She also enjoyed visiting her grandchildren in Texas and Colorado, as well as their summer visits home.
After 56 years of marriage, Florence was predeceased by her husband, Al, on July 27, 2001; her sons, David B. Creeden on August 28, 2001, and Ronald A. Creeden on December 20, 2022.
She is survived by her daughter, Tara Ann Foss and her husband David of Denver, Colorado; daughter-in-law, Maureen Creeden of Hyde Park, New York; grandchildren, Luke Creeden-Hamilton, U.S. Navy, of San Diego, California, Clint H. Foss, U.S. Marine Corps, of San Diego, California, and Li Li A. Foss of Omaha, Nebraska; great-granddaughter, Aviana Creeden-Hamilton of Dallas, Texas; sister, Carol A. Wadner of Portsmouth, Rhode Island; Jack Vanek of Walden, New York, Diane and Tracy Hamilton of Lewisville, Texas; and several nieces and nephews in Florida.
The family extends its heartfelt thanks to Flo's wonderful aides, Carmen and Mello, who made it possible for her to remain in her home for several years.
Services and burial at Calvary Cemetery in Poughkeepsie will be private at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations may be made in Flo's memory to Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation, 80 Washington Street, Suite 204, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
