He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Kathleen Kane (nee Leddy), his sons Timothy Kane (Victoria) and Brian Kane (Patricia), and grandchildren Garrett, Lore, James, Erin, Kevin and Colleen Kane as well as his sisters, Joan Aufiero and Grace Kelly. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews whom he loved very much.
Farrell attended St. Peter's High School for Boys on Staten Island and graduated from Manhattan College. Farrell and Kathleen were married in the Bronx in 1961. He and Kathleen raised their family in Dongan Hills on Staten Island and then retired to Cape Cod in 1991. They recently moved to New Paltz, NY to be closer to family.
Farrell was a kind and loving man who spent much of his free time in service to others both on Staten Island and Cape Cod. Farrell and Kathleen were active in the Orleans Yacht Club in Orleans, MA and in Nauset Newcomers on Cape Cod.
He loved history and writing and authored the novel, The Secondary, as well as many short stories for his grandchildren. He enjoyed a good joke, traveling, writing, long bike rides and time on the beach with his family. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
On Cape Cod he was a member of Saint Joan of Arc parish and more recently attended St Joseph's Church in New Paltz, NY.
