Hyde Park, NY  Ernest Nicholson Fleming, 86, of Hyde Park, previously of the Bronx, died on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie, NY. Born on November 4, 1934, in Schenectady, NY, he was the son of John and Martha Fleming (nee Haldane).    Ernie proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. from 1951 to 1954.  Later he was a member the NYC Police Department for 20 years, retiring in 1981.    Surviving are son, John Fleming; daughter, Lori Negri; son, Christopher Fleming and daughter, Cristin Aldershof, three sisters, Shirley Maloney; Nancy Angle; Janet DelVecchio, and 11 grandchildren.   Relatives and friends may call from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.  Funeral services with military honors will begin at 11AM on Monday, May 24, 2021 at the Community Mausoleum Chapel at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.  Cremation will follow the service.  In lieu of cards or flowers, please grab a couple of cold ones and toast Ernie's memory.
