Eleanor Gendts (88), lifelong resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, passed away at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital on October 26, 2022.

Mrs. Gendts was born on January 2, 1934, in Poughkeepsie to the late Edward P. and Theodora McManus. She graduated from Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School in 1951. She married Ralph Gendts on May 10, 1955, who predeceased her on February 2, 2002.

Mrs. Gendts was employed by the NY Telephone Co. and Hudson River Psychiatric Center where she retired in 1994. Her hobbies included shopping, gambling trips, and spending time with her family on vacations in New Jersey and Lake George.

Mrs. Gendts is survived by her two children, her daughter Katherine Fontanella and husband Eugene, son, Ralph Gendts, her two grandchildren Eugene Jr. and Danielle, and two great grandchildren Kate and Sean.

She was predeceased by her daughter Susan Charter and her husband Kenneth, and two sisters, Kathleen Banas and Jean Woodin. She was also predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Catherine Gendts.  Catherine's husband Ralph, survives her.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
