Town of Poughkeepsie - Edward M. Gilleran, 75, a lifelong Poughkeepsie resident, died February 16, 2024.

Born in Poughkeepsie on November 1, 1948, he was the son of the late Edward and Helen Paquet Gilleran. Ed earned a BA in Economics from Rutgers in 1970, and a Fellowship from Vassar College. After graduation, he taught at various colleges.

Ed was an accomplished swimmer in High school, he loved small craft sailing on Cape Cod, and he was an avid skier. He had a great sense of humor.

Ed was a devoted son who cared lovingly for his mother until her death in 2012. He is survived by several cousins.

There are no calling hours.

Graveside services and burial will be at 11 AM, Wednesday, March 13th at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Fr. Daniel D'Alliessi will officiate.
