Obituary

Donald "Donny" Alan Fuller, 63, lifelong resident of Hyde Park, left us on Sunday, March 16, 2025, after a long and courageous 18 year battle with cancer, with his family and friends by his side at home. Born, November 9, 1961 in Rhinebeck, he was the son of George W. Fuller and Helen M. Moore Fuller, his parents survive.

Donny graduated from Franklin D. Roosevelt High School in 1979. He also attended and completed the carpentry program at Dutchess BOCES CTI.

On April 20, 1985 at the Hyde Park United Methodist Church, he married his best friend and soulmate, the former Jill Haar. Mrs. Fuller survives at home.

When he wasn't babysitting his grandchildren, Donny enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was camping with family and friends or just enjoying nature, he especially enjoyed fishing at "his" pond. When his daughters were younger, Donny enjoyed teaching them to play softball as well as others he coached through the years, taking pride in teaching them how to play the game. Until late, he enjoyed playing in many Men's softball leagues. Donny was also an avid golfer, where you can find many of his clubs left on local county courses.

A man of many talents, Donny was proudly employed by DBS Remodeling in Poughkeepsie where "he's considered a legend, appreciating his skill and passion", but throughout his career he worked for Berto's Kitchen Cabinets, Bob Lysko Flooring, self employed and sub-contractor, and finally the Hyde Park Highway Department. Donny also enjoyed woodworking and took pride in his craftsmanship, he blended his passion and his hobby to make handmade custom specialty lamps in his free time. He was known for his fun loving personality and always enjoyed a good joke and having friends and family near him. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, a cup of coffee in hand and watching the cargo trains go by, especially at Quiet Cove or down by Shadows.

Along with his parents and wife he is survived by his two daughters Erika "Ika Me" Fuller, Brianna Dedrick and husband Randy. His two grandchildren whom he adored, "Special Agent" Paisley Rose Dedrick and "Little Man" Corbin Dedrick.

He is also survived by his brother George Fuller and wife Maryann, and little sister Sharon Myers and husband Scott.; his "outlaws" Nancy Haar; wife of Drew, Beverley Haar; wife of Todd, and Phil Brown; husband of Wendy, as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place.
