SALT POINT, NY - Danny Allen Lake Jr., our 49 years young rock, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. Danny was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on July 1, 1972 to Danny Sr. and Anne (Rogers) Lake. Both of whom survive at home in Red Hook, NY.
Danny was a dedicated, hard worker. He worked in the HVAC field for many years. His most recent professional achievement was co-founding his own business, Compass Mechanical Contracting. Danny oversaw the HVAC division of the company. Danny was an avid fisherman teaching all children how to love and appreciate the hobby he so much enjoyed. He was a collector of sneakers, Hot Wheels and diecast cars. If you knew Danny, you know that he was the toughest softie in the world. He was the most giving and selfless person. He was always the life of a party. Had you left your camera laying around you would have found an overabundance of "selfies" on it. He was a fierce protector to those he loved. He was always a straight shooter and never withheld his words or thoughts. You never had to wonder where you stood with Danny. He will be missed FOREVER by those that loved and respected him.
Danny Jr. is survived by his best friend Kelly (Critchley) Lake who became his wife on October 11, 2012. They resided in Salt Point with their two cherished German Shepherd dogs and their unborn son. Danny is the proud father of three amazing young women. Kayla Donovan and her husband Patrick of Pleasant Valley, NY. Ashlee Thaqi and her husband Krist of Poughquag, NY. Last but certainly not least, Danielle Lake of Pleasant Valley, NY. He is survived by Kelly's two honorary children Monica Alonzo-Santana and husband Jean of Pleasant Valley, NY and Megan Kosier of Hyde Park, NY. He is survived by his two younger siblings, Michael Lake of Fishkill, NY and Janel Winters and her husband William of Hyde Park, NY. Danny was honored to be a Poppy to six magnificent grandchildren: Liam, Leona, Cameron, Ella, Laken and Emmett. Danny is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins along with the following nieces and nephews: Stephanie, Tori, Marcus, Wyatt, Cole, Emily, Colton, Kayda, Elsa, Ezra and Salem.
Memorial calling hours will be from 4 to 7 PM Thursday, October 28th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte 9. Hyde Park, NY. A celebration of Danny's life will take place at 6 PM during the visitation. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. The surviving family members will be focused on grieving so a practical gift is probably the most thoughtful thing you can give them. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to future family milestones Danny would have otherwise been a part of.
