Obituary

Constance Lee Doyle, 82, a longtime resident of Hyde Park, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at The Meadows at Brookmeade in Rhinebeck with her family by her side.

Born on July 21, 1944, in Ellenburg, NY, Connie was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Jennie Mae Collins Harris

Before starting a family, Connie worked for NY Telephone Co. as an operator. While raising her children, she continued to work part time as a secretary for the former Hyde Park Sanitation, the Law Offices of Harold Mangold, and Jay Shaffer Construction. She later worked in the landscaping department at Adams Fairacre Farms in Poughkeepsie.

She loved garage sales, playing cards (especially pinochle), listening to country music, and watching her favorite game shows. She became a devoted Red Sox and Dallas Cowboy fan simply so she could talk sports with her son, David. Her hobbies included birdwatching, particularly hummingbirds, playing golf and bowling (she bowled in Hyde Park's former Morning Muffins League). She also enjoyed watching Court TV, Judge Judy, and Hot Bench, never missing an opportunity to follow a good case.

Walking was one of Connie's favorite pastimes, and she especially loved strolling the grounds at the Vanderbilt Estate in Hyde Park, whether alone or with friends and family. She cherished her time in the Adirondacks—especially in Minerva—with the beloved "Crumwold Crew," where laughter and companionship were always close at hand.

Above all, Connie was an exemplary homemaker whose greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandson, Cameron, who held a special place in her heart.

Connie's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. David Cho, Kirsten Laux, NP, and the staff of Northern Dutchess Hospital and The Meadows at Brookmeade—especially Barbara and Nicole—for their loving and attentive care.

In keeping with her wishes, Connie will be cremated, and there will be no services.

She is survived by her son, David D. Doyle of Rhinebeck; her daughter, Jennifer R. Doyle and husband, Kevin Hart of Hyde Park; and her cherished grandson, Cameron Hart. She is also survived by her sister, Doris Shaffer (Jay) of North Carolina; her brother, Kenneth Harris of New Hampshire; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by five brothers: Eugene, John, Jerome, Clinton, and Wellington "Chuck" Harris.

Her family respectfully requests memorial donations to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. (www.stjude.org)

Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
