Claire M. Whalen, 95, of Poughkeepsie, NY, died on Wednesday, September 29th, 2021, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. Born on June 6, 1926, in Derby, CT, she was the daughter of Leo F. Meade and Lauretta Conway Meade.  Married to Robert M. Whalen Sr. on July 29, 1952, in Red Bank, New Jersey she enjoyed her family, home, and the New Jersey shore.  She was beloved by all who knew her. She is survived by her son, Robert M. Whalen, Jr., Tivoli, NY; a grandson, 2 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Claire was predeceased by her three sisters Madeline Griffith, Jane Allen, and Nancy Lou Skakandy. Cremation took place at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
