Charles Thige
Koinange
Apr 16, 1966 — Feb 6, 2025
Charles Thige Koinange, a cherished husband, father, son, and brother, passed away suddenly on February 6, 2025, at the age of 58 in Hyde Park, New York. He was the son of Miriam Wambui Koinange and the late David Koinange Kariuki. He was born on April 16, 1966, in Kiambaa, Kiambu District, Kenya, and moved to America in 1995.
Charles leaves behind a loving family: his wife, Patricia Thige, and his two children, David, and Miriam Thige. He is also survived by his mother, and his siblings, Peter Kariuki Koinange, Wairimu Matere, and Lucy Murugi Koinange, all residing in Kenya. He was predeceased by his father and his younger brother Joel Ng'ang'a Koinange.
Charles completed his education in Kenya. An accomplished professional, Charles spent a decade as a manufacturer at IBM before dedicating the latter part of his career to construction and contracting. His work was marked by his innate intelligence and analytical nature, which he applied to every project with precision and care.
In his private life, Charles was a talented handyman as well as a photographer and an avid painter, especially of landscapes. He was always eager to understand how things worked, from airplanes to power tools. A history buff, he often immersed himself in books and documentaries to learn more about the past. He also had a passion for automobiles, one of his prized possessions being a 1929 Mercedes-Benz he spent many days and nights working on.
Charles was as witty as he was intelligent. His impressive memory, combined with his practical skills, made him the one to go to if you needed anything from the answer to a trivia question to a major home renovation. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege to know him.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 1-4PM at Sweet's Funeral Home on Route 9 in Hyde Park.
