Obituary

Charles "Red Dog" Hildwein, 62, of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away on March 14, 2026.

Charlie was a kind and generous man who was known for his great sense of humor and his willingness to help anyone in need—truly the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back. He had a friendly nature that made him easy to talk to and someone people naturally gravitated toward. One of his simple joys in life was spending time at his favorite tree enjoying the moment and the world around him.

He is survived by his daughter, Kaitlyn Hildwein of Albany, NY, and his grandson, Wyatt DeSormeau. He is also survived by his mother, Sara Ingraham of Hyde Park, NY; his brothers, John Hildwein and Daniel Hildwein; his sisters, Paula McGill and Billie Teixeira; and many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

Charlie will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

"May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

The rains fall soft upon your fields.

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand."
