Cecilia M. Murphy, 87, died Sunday, June 20, 2004 at the Thompson House in Rhinebeck. A resident of Hyde Park since 1953, she was formerly of Elmont, Long Island. Mrs. Murphy was an aide at Hudson River Psychiatric Center retiring in 1960. Born May 17, 1917 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Stella Schuletski Matuszak. She married Peter Francis Murphy on Aug. 31, 1936 in St. Benedict's Church in Brooklyn. Mr. Murphy died Sept. 9, 1977. She was a member of Regina Coeli Church in Hyde Park; a member of Fallkill Grange and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary - West Clinton Fire Co. Survivors include a son, Peter Francis Murphy Sr. of Cape Coral, Fla.; a daughter, Joanne Coulton of Newport, R.I.; a son, Donald Murphy of Hyde Park; grandchildren, Patricia and Christine Murphy, Adine AkersGoodwin, Delon Smart, Christopher Murphy, Tracy Murphy and Brian, Todd and Eric Murphy; great-grandchildren, Daniel and Ryan Smart, Peter Francis Murphy Jr. and Olivia and Gabrielle Goodwin; a sister, Margie Ball of Corinth; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Richard Murphy in 1948. Calling hours will be 6-9 p.m., Wednesday, June 23, at Sweet's Funeral Home Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10 a.m., Thursday, June 24, at Regina Coeli Church, Rte. 9, Hyde Park. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, Long Island.
