Catherine Ann
Davies
Oct 21, 1941 — May 8, 2024
Hyde Park, NY
Catherine Ann Davies, known affectionately to friends and family as Cathy, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2024, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, after a private and valiant battle with a long illness. Born on October 21, 1941, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Cathy's warmth and kindness touched the hearts of all who knew her throughout her 82 ½ years.
Cathy was the daughter of the late Hugh Robert and Dorothy Jane Horn Davies of Hyde Park. She is survived by her sister, Eleanor Davies of Hyde Park. She was a loving mother of Peter Kazolias, Christopher Kazolias and Corinna Kazolias-Gregory all of Poughkeepsie. She was the mother-in-law of Jeffrey Gregory and the best Nana to Margaret "Maggie" Katherine Gregory and Michael Constantine Gregory. In 1962, Cathy married Constantine "Gus" Peter Kazolias who survives at his home in Poughkeepsie. She was a cousin to Helen Ann Downing Adsit and husband Paul of Rome, NY, Jenni Horn Browning and Christopher of Washington State and Will Waterman and Patty of East Lansing, Michigan, as well as many nieces and nephews including her godson, John Robert Kazolias.
Cathy attended Hyde Park Schools graduating in 1959. She attended Elmira College, and Dutchess Community College. She was a longtime member of the Hyde Park Methodist Church. Early in her career, Cathy was employed as a long-distance telephone operator before being employed at the Adriance Memorial Library in Poughkeepsie, from where she retired in 2016. She also worked at the Poughkeepsie YMCA. Cathy was a very private person, and she kept her circle small so if you were part of it then consider yourself special. She epitomized the definition of a loving mother with her kindness, generosity, and forgiveness.
