Carson Bohlinger Sr., 75 of Hyde Park passed away Wednesday February 16, 2022 after a long battle with many illnesses.
Born, on January 29, 1947 in Poughkeepsie he was the son of the late George Bohlinger and Vera Reader Bohlinger.
Carson proudly owned and operated a heavy equipment construction business for many years. Following that for 26 years before his retirement he was the foreman at Fishkill Rural Cemetery. He was a hard worker who put all his efforts into making everyone's experience at the cemetery a pleasant one. He gained many friends this way and cared deeply about his work there.
Carson enjoyed everything in life, especially time spent with family and lending a helping hand to others. He would give the last dollar in his pocket to help someone in need, if it meant they would be happy. That's truly what was most important to him. He was one of the most caring, selfless people with a heart of gold; his smile would light up a room, no matter how big or small. He kept it real and could always make you laugh, without even trying. He certainly touched the lives of many, especially through his active passions of hunting, gardening, woodworking and even shopping with his daughter. Carson loved fishing, and often spent his days casting with his lifelong friend Artie. In his younger years he looked forward to his annual camping trips to Big Bad Luck in the Adirondacks, and as he got older he enjoyed camping at Wilcox Park and Norrie Point. Being he loved spending time outdoors, trips to Sacandaga Lake with family were some of his favorite times. All he needed in life was family, friends and the outdoors to be happy. He found joy in feeding the birds, especially during the latter half of his life; he'd sacrifice his breakfast if it meant the birds were chirping with a happy belly. As you can see, he was someone who found beauty in everything, especially the little things in life. This involved taking rides up North to see the leaves turn and be by the countryside. If you were up early enough you could find him down by the river sipping his morning coffee. One of his favorite things about life was his tight bond with his children. He found great pleasure in bonding with his sons over cars. Tinkering around in the driveway alongside his sons and all their friends became a frequent event for Carson. This was always fun for him, and he felt as if he was one of the guys. As he got older, Sunday morning breakfast at his daughter's house became a special tradition. He loved seeing his grandchildren, just as much as they all loved seeing their "Poppy". Poppy was known for always bringing something for them to enjoy; this included donuts and lollipops nestled in between the seats of his truck. Carson never passed down a chance to express how proud he was of his children and grandchildren. No matter what, he was by their side with his smile and flat cap on.
He is survived by his three children, son Carson Bohlinger Jr., daughter Kelly and her husband George, son Thomas Bohlinger and companion Laura Tosetti. Grandchildren Brett Bohlinger, Dylan Bohlinger, Brandan Variano, MaKayla Variano, Lexus Pattershall and Brooke Bohlinger. He is also survived by his three siblings, brother George Bohlinger and wife Sandra, Sister Vera "Sis" Mulford and husband Ed and brother Mark "Rick" Bohlinger and wife Sue. Also, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends that will miss him dearly.
In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will take place on March 5th at LaGrange Rural Cemetery at 11:00 am. Burial will be in the family plot with his parents as he wished.
