Carl A.
Anderson
Mar 10, 1955 — Sep 15, 2026
Carl A. Anderson, 71, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, passed away unexpectedly on September 15, 2026. His sudden passing has brought great sadness to the many people who knew and loved him.
The son of William Duncan Anderson and Mary Weglinski Anderson, Carl was a graduate of Arlington High School. He was a devoted brother, uncle, great-uncle, and friend who was cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Carl was a truly kind, gentle, and loving man whose warm smile and easygoing spirit made him a joy to be around. Carl valued time spent with his family and many friends. Whether sharing a laugh, joining a celebration, or simply enjoying the moment together, Carl had a special way of bringing happiness to every occasion.
Carl had a wonderfully creative mind, which he expressed through his paintings and drawings. He was also an enthusiastic collector with a special interest in stamps, minerals, gems, and coins. He particularly treasured attending gem and mineral shows with his sister and dear friend, Laura – memories she will always hold close to her heart.
Music was another great joy in Carl's life. He loved attending concerts, listening to records and CDs, and never hesitated to dance to the music. Carl also played the drums himself in his younger years. He appreciated life's simple pleasures and generously shared his happiness and enthusiasm with everyone around him.
Carl is survived by his brother, Mark Anderson (Donna) of Minnesota, his sister, Laura Anderson Kelly (Howard) of New York; his nephews, Chris (Ketty), and Mark, his niece, Heather (George); his great-nephew Jet, and his best friends MaryAnn, Tammy, and Chris M, all of whom loved him dearly.
Carl was a wonderful man, and his gentle nature, creative spirit, bright smile, and loving heart will never be forgotten. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his family, friends, and all whose lives were made brighter by knowing him. In his own familiar words: "Good, ditto, ditto."
