Brenda Lee
Bruno
Feb 6, 1949 — Jul 14, 2024
Brenda Lee Bruno passed away early Sunday morning in Rhinebeck, NY, on July 14th, 2024, at age 75.
She is survived by her sons Nicholas Bruno and Brian Bruno, along with daughter-in-law Amy and grandchildren Ava, Scarlett, and Ben.
She is also survived by her brother Leon Nicalek and her niece Stacey Pierce.
Mom was born on February 6th, 1949, in Poughkeepsie, NY, to Leo and Mary Nicalek. She attended Poughkeepsie High School, where she met our father, Arthur Bruno (deceased May 2017).
They wed on June 14th, 1969.
Both were employed at IBM, with our mother retiring after 40 years of service.
Ok, now that the formalities are over...
Brenda.
Whoa boy.
A strong woman. Fierce friend. Loving mother. Wife to Art.
You knew if she liked you and really knew if she did not.
Ma loved her husband, sons, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, photography, and films, especially the film "Moonstruck". She really liked it. Many Friday nights, we would pick out something to watch, and Mom usually wanted to put on that particular movie. And sometimes, we did. Then, about an hour into the film, she'd fall asleep on the couch, and our father would say: "Bren, you're sleeping." She'd reply with an abrupt: "No, I'm not, Art.", then Dad would retort with: "Ok. You're watching it through your eyelids."
This was a regular occurrence.
My brother and I take comfort in knowing that they are now reunited, watching "Moonstruck", while making accusations of who is sleeping and who is viewing the movie.
We love and miss you, Ma.
