Beverly Miller Richard, 92, of Rhinebeck, died peacefully at home on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 2021, with her family by her side.
Born August 22, 1929, in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of Charles and Esther (Likely) Miller. She was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School.
Beverly started her career as a Telephone Operator and held various data entry jobs over the years. She retired as a Computer Operator with the Dutchess County Office of Central and Information Systems in Poughkeepsie.
Family was all important to Bev, gathering everyone together in her beloved home by the lake for Sunday dinners. Bev created these dinners for everyone's birthday, each getting their favorite meal. Always active in her children's and grandchildren's lives, whether in Girl Scouts, 4 H or just being their biggest cheerleader in whatever they were doing, Bev had a special bond with everyone in her family.
She enjoyed spending time outdoors and had the reputation of catching the biggest fish. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling, and more recently she loved to play online computer games with her sister in Florida and keeping up with her extensive social media family.
Beverly attended church at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish in Poughkeepsie.
In 1956 at St. Stanislaus Church in Pleasant Valley, she married Gustav A. "Mort" Richard. Her husband predeceased her in 1982.
Survivors include her four children, Diane Richard and Nancy Dotterer, both of Hyde Park, Paul Richard and wife, Nancy, of Eastham, Massachusetts, and Donna Borquist and husband, Dana, of Rhinebeck; grandchildren, Kyle Monthie (Amanda), Cassandra Kassel (Matthew), Korey Dotterer (Deanna), Brendan Dotterer (Shannon), Carly Sheehan (Mike), Brent Richard, Bradley Borquist (Lauren), and Rebecca Borquist (fiancé-Brenden Fesinger).
She was beloved "Gigi" to her great-grandchildren, Emma Sheehan, Hannah and Holly Kassel, and Shawn Martin Monthie.
She is also survived by her sister, Carol Mahoney, and husband, Donald, of Florida; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Charles Miller; son-in-law, Gary Dotterer; and grandbabies, Richard "Ricky" Dotterer and Shawn Michael Monthie.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 PM, Friday, December 3rd at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park. A prayer service will take place at 6 PM during the visitation.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation will follow, and her ashes will be buried in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery in Poughkeepsie at the family's convenience.
