Poughkeepsie, NY – Beth Lynn Barlow, 81, passed away Saturday, September 18th, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.  A resident of The Landing of Poughkeepsie since 2019, she was a former longtime resident of Lake Katrine, NY.  She taught English at Ulster County BOCES for more than twenty years, retiring in 2005.  She previously taught in Mahopac High School, the school system she had attended in her youth.  Born December 2, 1939 in Peekskill, she was the eldest daughter of the late Robert and Genevieve Wilson.  Beloved mother and cousin, Beth will be missed by her remaining family, daughter Susan Sodano and her husband Frank of Halfmoon NY, grandson Matthew Sodano of Watertown, NY, cousin Allan Warnecke of Mahopac, NY, Lowell Warnecke of Leland, North Carolina, Barbara Hazelett of Vienna, Virginia, and Susan Johnson of Potsdam, New York.   She was preceded in death by her ex-husband Ferdinand H. Barlow Jr., son Christopher Barlow, sister Bettie Kruel, and her beloved feline companion, Katy.  Beth was an avid reader, who enjoyed doing puzzles and traveling. While residing in the Kingston area, she loved working in the local library, and mentoring at-risk youth.  In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral services.  In lieu of flowers, Beth's family respectfully requests memorial donations to your local animal shelter, or, Greenpeace, 702 H Street, Suite 300, Washington, DC 20001.
