Bernard Francis Niet, Jr., 76, of Bluffton, South Carolina and formerly of Poughkeepsie, passed away on September 15, 2026, at Select Specialty Hospital in Savannah, Georgia, following a brief illness.

Born on August 11, 1950, in Poughkeepsie, Bernard was the son of the late Bernard Francis Niet, Sr. and the late Jean Crose Niet.

Bernard spent most of his life in Poughkeepsie before relocating to Bluffton, where he lived for just over twenty years. He retired from IBM after many dedicated years of service.

In 1979, he married the former Roseanne (Esposito) Noto. His beloved wife predeceased him in 2015.

Bernard is survived by his children, Anthony Noto and his wife, Kristin, and George Noto and his wife, Alana; and his sister, Susan Niet Horth, and her husband, Daniel.

He leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Marisa Noto, Gabriella Noto, Elison Noto, Anthony Jude Noto, AJ Noto, Maya Noto Terrell, and Maurielle Noto; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his son, Thomas Noto; and brother, David Niet.

A period of visitation will be from 9 to 11 AM, Monday September 21st at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

A committal service will follow at 11:30 AM at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Mausoleum at St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie. Fr. Richard LaMorte will officiate.
