Barbara Marie Johnson, 72, of Hyde Park, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at home.

Born, August 16, 1952, in Sharon, CT, she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry Johnson and Ruby Alberta Opitz.

After receiving her bachelor's degree she went on to work for IBM in Fishkill for many years before her retirement.

Barbara enjoyed reading, fishing, traveling and even learned how to fly an airplane. She also enjoyed spending time with her pet cats and her family, especially her nephews Benji and Matis.

She is survived by her two sisters Frances Ann Fontana and Vivian Gail Tucker; nieces and nephews, Ruby Lynn Godfrey, Jessica Dawson, Andrew Tucker, Tiffany Madison and Lisa Marie Miller.

She is also survived by her dear friends, Deb Hogan, Savanah Reeves, Rennie Turner and Terry Sloan.

Along with her parents she was also predeceased by her sisters Margaret Godfrey and Charlotte Madison.

In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will take place at a later date.

Barbara 's family respectfully requests memorial donations to any no kill cat shelter.
