Barbara E. Hedrick, 85, a lifelong area resident, died peacefully on April 16, 2023, at The Pines at Poughkeepsie Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.

Born June 27, 1937, in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of James H. and Elizabeth Aletta Horton Lowery.

Barbara worked in the Human Resources Department at the former Wire-O Corporation in Poughkeepsie for many years until her retirement.

Barbara loved to cook and travel, especially to Maine, a destination she would visit every year. She loved to see the lighthouses. She also enjoyed going fishing and eating seafood. Known for her cheerful outlook, she was always smiling.

On December 23, 1961, she married Kenneth A. Hedrick Sr. He predeceased her on May 19, 2017.

Survivors include her two stepchildren, Linda Hedrick Block and Kenneth A. Hedrick, Jr.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; twin brother, Robert Lowery; two sisters, Jeanne Gleason (John) and Sally Rodriguez (Roy); and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Richard, and sister, Patricia.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be private.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
