Anna A.
Osika
Mar 4, 1931 — Feb 24, 2025
Anna A. Osika, age 93, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in 1931, Anna grew up in a close-knit Irish family on East Chester Street in Kingston, N.Y. She was very proud of her Irish ancestry. Her parents, Anna and John Kearns, and brothers, Jack and Paul, were the center of her early life.
Anna graduated from Kingston High School and Morton's Business School.
In 1955, she married the love of her life, William J. Osika. Together, they raised a family and ran a successful building business in Hyde Park, N.Y. For over 60 years, she lived in the family home that Bill built at 31 Gilbert Drive.
Anna was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Above all, Anna enjoyed spending time with her family. This included 4 children, 8 grandchildren and twin great grandsons. She loved when everyone came together to hang out at the pool, have a BBQ, and sit around the picnic table that Papa built. And there was never a visit to Nana and Papa's that didn't include a bowl of ice cream!
Her greatest wish was that all her children receive a college education, and they did. After the youngest was in school, she went to work at Marine Midland Bank and later was a supervisor in the development office at Vassar College. She loved being a member of the Vassar community.
Anna was a long-time parishioner at Regina Coeli Catholic Church and most recently at St. Martin de Porres Church.
Anna enjoyed gardening, traveling, playing outside and taking walks with the grandkids to the Pooh Stick bridge, sewing and crocheting. She made many beautiful items for her children and grandchildren. She loved poodles and raised many of them over the years.
She was pre-deceased by her husband of 57 years and her brothers, Jack and Paul. She is survived by her four children, Paula Buckheit and son-in-law, Harry, of Charlestown, R.I., Michele Osika Swank and son-in-law, Darren, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Timothy Osika and daughter-in-law, Jean, of Brookfield, CT and Christopher Osika and daughter-in-law, Linda, of Mendham, NJ: eight grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsey, Melissa, Brian, Paul, Timmy, Hailey, and Kristin; and two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Devan. She will be deeply missed and always remembered.
