Obituary

Ann Marie Delarm, 88, a longtime resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at The Pines at Poughkeepsie.

Born on April 14, 1938, in Moira, New York, she was the daughter of the late Adolphus LaRock and Edna St. Hilaire LaRock-Cronk.

On October 6, 1956, Ann married Frederick W. Delarm, at St. Mary's Church in Brushton, New York. Together they shared 61 years of marriage until his passing on November 3, 2017.

Ann made her home in Poughkeepsie since 1964 after moving from Tupper Lake, NY. A devoted member of the community, she attended St. Francis Hospital Parish and St. Peter's Church and generously gave her time as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and the Poughkeepsie Food Pantry. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Ann obtained her Associates Degree from Dutchess Community College in 1971, an accomplishment of which she was always proud.

A dedicated and hardworking woman, Ann worked as a bus driver / manager for the Hyde Park Central School District Transportation Dept. for many years until her retirement. At one time, she worked together with her husband in the family business, Delarm's Auto Service, and also worked as a bookkeeper for Triple A Janitorial Supplies in Poughkeepsie. Earlier in life, she helped her mother at the former Klondike Inn, working as a waitress and filling in wherever needed.

More than anything, Ann treasured her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her home was always open, and everyone knew they were welcome to stop by at any time. She never forgot a birthday and always made sure her grandchildren faithfully attended CCD classes at St. Peter's Church every Sunday.

Ann is survived by her daughter, Deborah A. Hermann, and her husband, Kevin, of Millbrook; daughter, Brenda Delarm of Moira; son, Mark Delarm of the Town of Poughkeepsie; her grandchildren, Andrew Lambert, Christopher Lambert, Jennifer Sorci, Harry Harrington IV, Jayson Harrington, Shannon Mackenzie, Devon, James, Mark, Summer, and Chloe Eng, and Brittany Delarm; several great grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren.

She is also survived by her brother, Thomas LaRock, and several nieces and nephews.

Ann also loved her pet cats.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, James F. Delarm, in 1976.
