Obituary

Andrew J. Ceroni Sr., 97, a longtime Hyde Park resident, died peacefully on Monday, September 7, 2026, at his home with his family by his side.

Born on March 28, 1929, in Marlboro, NY, Andrew was the son of Frank J. Ceroni Sr. and Amelia M. Trojan Ceroni.

He took great pride in caring for his yard, finding joy in the simple rhythm of tending to the land. A devoted dog lover, he cherished each of his pets and lovingly maintained the family pet cemetery on his property, ensuring that every animal who shared his life was honored and remembered.

Andrew began his career at Traprock, which later became Lonestar Industries, and worked his way up through dedication and perseverance. He retired as a regional salesman, marking the end of three generations of his family who worked for Traprock and its successors—an accomplishment he was proud of!

He was a lifetime member of the Poughkeepsie Elks Lodge #275.

On December 7, 1972, in Wappingers, NY, Andrew married the former Sophie J. Gumienna. His wife of over 50 years survives at home.

Andrew is also survived by his children, Andrew Ceroni Jr. and wife, Trudi, of Colorado, David Ceroni of Minnesota, Caryn Daloia and husband, John Moore, of City Island, NY, Jeanette Valley of Red Hook, Joann Cope and husband, Redland, of Cornish, Maine, Monique Daloia and fiancé, Richard Robards, of Hyde Park, and Robyn Charter and husband, Kris, of Red Hook.

He leaves behind several grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as his sister, Jeanette Rohan of Hyde Park, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Andrew was predeceased by his daughter, Nancy Vest in 2014; brother, Frank Ceroni Jr.; and sister, Elizabeth Luty.

Andrew's family extends heartfelt gratitude to Hudson Valley Hospice and his caregiver, Donna Tracy, for their compassionate care and support during his final days.

Funeral services are private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, Andrew's family respectfully requests memorial donations to the Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation, 80 Washington Street, Suite 204 Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. (www.hvhospice.org)
