HYDE PARK – Santo J. D’Angelo, 86, a fifty-five year Hyde Park resident passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Northern Dutchess Hospital.  Born on June 20, 1932 to the late Sebastiana and Angelo D’Angelo of Brooklyn, NY, Santo was the younger of two children and is predeceased by his brother Salvatore D’Angelo of Queens, NY.  Santo was a Korean War Veteran and a 1959 graduate of St. John’s University College of Pharmacy.  A registered Pharmacist, Santo was the proprietor of the Poughkeepsie Prescription Center, 373 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY from 1963 – 1972.  He subsequently owned and operated Hanlon Drug Products, Inc. and his pharmacy career included many years as a Staff Pharmacist at the F.D.R. Veteran’s Hospital in Montrose, NY and as Chief Pharmacist at the Greenhaven Correctional Facility in Stormville, NY.            Active in the community, Santo was a long-time member and past President of the Hyde Park Lion’s Club, an Italian Center of Poughkeepsie member, a Charter member of the Hyde Park Swim & Tennis Club, a Hyde Park Little League coach and an American Legion member.  A passionate sports fan, Santo rarely missing a televised Yankees, Giants or Rangers game.  He was a Marist College Women’s Basketball season ticket holder and Red Fox Den member.  An avid gardener in his retirement, Santo spent many rewarding hours harvesting, sharing and enjoying the abundance of assorted fresh vegetables produced annually from his ever-expanding garden.Santo was truly a selfless, loving, and caring individual who was blessed with an uncommon ability to make many numerous, lasting friendships – which he treasured.  He was devoted to his family and loyal to all of his many wonderful friends, too many of whom have predeceased him.  Santo married his loving wife of fifty-nine years, the former Maria Giaramita of Wingdale, NY, on October 18, 1959.  In addition to his loving wife, Maria, Santo is survived by his son, Angelo (“A.J.”) and his wife Leslie, of Garnet Valley, PA, as well as by three sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.  Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass Service to be celebrated on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Regina Coeli Church, 2 Harvey Street, Hyde Park.  There will be no calling hours.  Cremation has taken place in keeping with Santo’s wishes.  Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.Memorial donations to the Hyde Park Lion’s Club, P.O.
