Obituary for Leo Frank Cardillo

Leo Frank Cardillo,76, of Clifton, Virginia (and formerly of New Jersey) passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at home with his family by his side.
     Born September 11, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Eleanor Cornero Cardillo.
      Leo attended MIT, achieving a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering in 1964. He continued taking courses throughout his life at George Washington University and George Mason University.
      On June 24, 1967, in Haworth, NJ, he married the former Bobbee Lee Anderson.  Mrs. Cardillo survives at home. 
      Mr. Cardillo worked for the Central Intelligence Agency for thirty-two years until his retirement in 1996 as a Senior Intelligence Service officer.
   His career took him to Europe and Africa where he lived and worked for seven years  in service of his country.
  After his federal  career, he worked for another five years as a government contractor in Washington DCFor over twenty years Leo  served on the Northwest Federal Credit Union Board of Directors.
  In addition, he  held positions in the Christmas Cove Improvement Association, 711 Investment Club, and Northern Virginia Bridge Association.
 He was also active in the DC Radio Control Club and the State Department’s Senior Seminar Alumni Association.
 An avid runner, Leo completed a half dozen Marathons and enjoyed many other sports.
Along with his wife, Leo is survived by his three children, Nala Laura Cardillo, Frank Michael Cardillo, and Eileen Robin Cardillo; two grandchildren, Wilder Gray Cardillo and Mazie Clover Grey; sister, Marianne Muggenburg; brothers, Matthew and Robert Cardillo; and several nieces and nephews.
A period of visitation will be from 10 to 11am, Tuesday June 18th, at Sweet’s Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
Funeral services will follow at 11 am at the Funeral Home.Burial will be in Union Cemetery of Hyde Park.
