Obituary for John Edward Lindros

Hyde Park – Known to all by a baseball cap and a cigar in his mouth, our “Eddie” has passed on November 1, 2018, comfortable at home with caregivers by his side, he went to join those who have passed before him.
Born on July 28, 1924 in Enfield, Mass., he was the son of the late William and Belle Wilson Lindros.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Asiatic – Pacific Service Medal, European – African – Middle Eastern Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Hyde Park American Legion Post #1303.
Ed was a Rural Mail Carrier serving the Staatsburg Post Office for many years until he retired in 1984.
In 1965, he married the former Jean Ann Connelly. Mrs. Lindros predeceased him in 2005.
Survivors include his two step-daughters, Donna M. Fell and husband, Christopher, of the Villages, Florida, and Judith A. Griffin and husband, Patrick, of Salt Point; step-son, Daniel Ferris of Splendora, Texas; many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and niece, Joanne Steele of Boca Raton, FL.
Very special thoughts to his caretakers, June, Jessica, Emma, and Missy.
Ed is also survived by his special friend, Joann Sousa of Peabody, Massachusetts.
In addition to his wife and parents, Ed was predeceased by his step-daughter, Susan J. Olson; sister, Agnes Shaver; two brothers, William R. and Elbert H. Lindros; and nephew, Michael Derr.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 pm, Monday, November 5th, at Sweet’s Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park. The American Legion will conduct services at 8 pm.
Funeral services will be at 10 am, Tuesday, November 6th, at the Funeral Home with Rev. Thom Fiet officiating.
Burial with military honors will follow in the family plot at Union Cemetery of Hyde Park.
