Obituary for Jack (John P., Jr.) Hart

Hart, Jack (John P, Jr). Silent key K2TTY (formerly WA2HWJ) died on October 4, 2018. Known as “the”Jack Hart” in the radio/cellular industry, Jack started his career with NY Telephone CO In Nassau Special Services, moving on in NY TEL to Datec in NYC. Leaving NY Tel, Jack moved to AMPS (Advanced Mobile Phone Servece) at AT&T during the pioneering days of cellular development. From there Jack became immersed in designing & building cellular systems. Working for AT&T Wireless, Cellular One, Nynex Mobile, Metro PCS, AT&T Bell Labs, Nextel & others, Jack’s career saw him & his teams design & build all the original cell systems in the northeast, holding positions starting with project manager & advancing to VP of System Development. A short stint working for Motorola in cellular also added to his skills. McCaw Cellular enticed Jack to the NW for a short time. Returning to the east coast Jack continued in cellular eventually becoming the Chief Technical Officer of IWO (Independent Wireless One).

After many, many years in cellular Jack “retired” to become a radio consultant working to design & build large public safety systems for police & fire departments in NYC for IXP Corp and throughout the US. His greatest achievement was the multi city, multi county, bi state, regional police radio system he designed & oversaw the buildout of in the Kansas City area.

He is survived by his wife, Sue, son, Sean, brother, Thom, sisters, Liz & Celeste.

As per Jack’s request he was cremated.
