Hyde Park - Ellen Marie Spencer, 75, a longtime area resident, died Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, surrounded by family. Born in Astoria, Queens, New York on November 9, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Marie Jancovic Ironside. Mrs. Spencer received an Associate's degree from the St. Francis School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse at St. Francis Hospital for over 30 years, retiring in 2000. She enjoyed being with her family, gardening, & needlework. On February 08, 1958, she married Phillip Spencer Sr. at the Regina Coeli Church Chapel. Mr. Spencer survives at home. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Ranalli, and husband, Randy, of Hyde Park; son, Phillip Spencer Jr., of Staatsburg; daughter, Paula Roberts, of Wallkill; son, Matthew Spencer, and wife, Karen, of Rhinebeck; grandchildren Megan Ranalli, Audrey Berryann and husband Brian, Lauren Haber and husband David, Spencer Seymour, Sydney Spencer, Jack Spencer; great grandchildren Daniella Seymour, Ryan Durling, Benjamin Haber, Oliver Berryann; sisters: Margaret Silvernail, Roberta Constable, and husband, David, Theresa Bomba, and husband, Irv, Louise Kowalaski, and husband, Joseph, Marie Movall, and husband, Gerald; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
