Obituary for Doris Mae Wehmeyer

Doris M. Wehmeyer, 77, of Lagrangeville, died on Sunday, May 12, 2019, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.
Born on December 19, 1941, in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Dorothy Grogan Meysner. She met the love of her life, Richard Henry Wehmeyer, attending a Luther League event. After graduating from Draper High School, she attended Nursing School at Ellis Hospital. On September 23, 1962 in Schenectady, she married Richard. Richard survives at home.
For twenty years she worked in various nursing positions. Then after settling into the Hudson Valley in the mid-80s, "Mother" Doris joined Vassar Bothers Hospital and obtained her RN Certification in labor and delivery, and childbirth educator certification. During her time at Vassar, she touched many patients and fellow nurses.
In addition to her husband, Richard Henry Wehmeyer, Doris is also survived by her two sons, Richard F. Wehmeyer and wife, Loterly, of Cornwall, and William J. Wehmeyer and wife, Karin, of Middletown, DE; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her love overflowed in many ways including cooking and baking for us all. We will miss her immensely.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 PM, on Friday, May 17th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
A graveside service will begin at 11 AM, Saturday, May 18that Elmwood Cemetery, Schaghticoke, NY.
Doris's family respectfully requests memorial donations to World Vision International (www.worldvision.org).
