Obituary for Carolyn Du Pilka

Carolyn Du Pilka,92, of Poughkeepsie, died on Thursday, February 28, 2019, at the Lutheran Care Center at Concord Village, Poughkeepsie. 
  Born on March 3, 1926 in Hudson, NY, she was the daughter of Angelo and Marie (Di Gregorio) Fiorillo.  She married the love of her life, Louis M. Du Pilka on June 2, 1946 at Holy Trinity Church, Poughkeepsie.  Louis died on August 11, 2013. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her infant daughter Sharon Marie DuPilka, two brothers, and four sisters.  
  Carolyn fought a courageous battle with an aggressive form of breast cancer over 23 years ago and won the battle. She had remained cancer free right up to the end of her life, She always tried to be an inspiration to all those who are fighting this disease to never lose hope. 
  Carolyn was an avid bingo player at St. Peters Parish, Poughkeepsie and enjoyed spending time with her friends there while playing. She also enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, and lottery scratch-off-games. 
  Surviving are a son Richard (Jill) Du Pilka of Hyde Park, daughter Karen Aposporos (George), Poughkeepsie, daughter, Joann Alexander, La Grangeville, daughter Renee Germano (Thomas), of Hyde Park. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren; Dana Conners of Hyde Park, Thomas Germano Jr. of Cold Spring, Michelle DelForno of LaGrangeville, Danielle Germano of Hyde Park, Jennifer Alexander of LaGrangeville, Ryan DuPilka of Hyde Park and Matthew DuPilka of Stamford, CT. Also surviving are three great grandchildren; Chase, Lauren, and Alex. 
  Friends and relatives may call on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 7pm to 9pm at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., 4365 Albany Post Rd., Hyde Park, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Chapel at St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, on Friday, March 8, 2019, at 10:00am by Father Patrick Curley, Pastor, St. Peter’s Church, Poughkeepsie. 
  In lieu of flowers, Carolyn's family respectfully requests memorial donations to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Sparrows Nest Charity. Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.  To send an online condolence, or for directions, please visit
