Our funeral home is a family owned and operated business. We are large enough to give our families the same service as the largest funeral homes around, yet we are small enough that each family gets the level of attention and care they deserve.
Anna Eleanor Roosevelt Funeral - November 10, 1962
On November 10, 1962, Anna Eleanor Roosevelt, former First Lady and Human Rights activist, died at her Manhattan home. As a longtime resident of the town of Hyde Park, Mrs. Roosevelt was returned to Dutchess County to be interred next to her husband, former President of the United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt, in the Rose Garden of his Springwood estate. Our founder, George W. Sweet, was honored to have been called upon and asked to be the funeral director to handle the arrangements of Mrs. Roosevelt’s funeral. Attending were President Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, Vice-President Lyndon Johnson, and former Presidents Harry Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower. George W. Sweet was proud to have been a part of this historic event, and we continue this mission, serving the families of Hyde Park and the surrounding area.
