Lillian Leona Brokosch, 88, died on Thursday, June 29, 2017 while at the Renaissance Rehabilitation Center in Hyde Park.

Born on May 6, 1929 in Hyde Park, she was the daughter of Sterling and Hazel Ackert.

On April 6, 1947, she wed the love of her life, Joseph William Brokosch, at the Christ Episcopal Church in Poughkeepsie. She was predeceased by Joseph on July 15, 2011.

Lillian was employed as a seamstress when she was younger for a dress company and a pocketbook manufacturer. She loved to sew and crochet. She spent endless hours making clothes for herself and her family. Lillian crocheted baby clothes, blankets, doilies, and tablecloths with embellishments that made each piece an original. She also created a beautiful one-of-a-kind quilt.

She loved to cook and in her younger days, Sunday dinners were a tradition at mom and dad’s house.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth J. Brokosch and Denise Brokosch (her former daughter-in-law), and William S. Brokosch, and his wife, Bonnie; her loving granddaughter, Chessa; one niece; several great nephews; and the many friends she had made over the years in the community.

Lillian continued to fly Old Glory in memory of Joe, who served proudly in the US Army during World War II.

There will be no calling hours. In keeping with Lillian’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

At the family’s convenience, the ashes of Lillian and the ashes of Joseph will be placed to rest, together, at Union Cemetery in Hyde Park. May they now rest in peace.
