Born September 20, 1935 in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of the late Martin W. and Lucille Davis Hayes.
Laura worked as a secretary at the Dutchess County Department of Health in Poughkeepsie for many years.
A communicant of St. Paul's Mission Church in Staatsburg, she was Past-President of the Altar Rosary Society, and a Eucharistic Minister, who visited many local nursing homes. As part of Regina Coeli Parish in Hyde Park, she was also active with the Adoration Chapel and was a former part of the rectory staff.
Her activities in the community include being a member of the Staatsburg Homemakers, and a longtime volunteer with Hyde Park Meals-on-Wheels.
Laura is survived by her five children, Walter Doyle, and his wife, Donna, of Staatsburg, Michael Doyle, and his wife, Diane, of New Paltz, Kevin Doyle, and his wife, Kathy, of Highland, Nancy Ann Downing, and her husband, Dennis, of Las Vegas, NV, and Sean Doyle of Clifton Park; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Ann Braun, and her husband, Rudy, of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; and her devoted caregiver, Audrey Brown.
In addition to her parents, Laura was predeceased by one brother, Martin W. Hayes, Jr.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm on Friday, April 21st at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:15am on Saturday, April 22nd at St. Paul's Mission Church, Mulford Ave., Staatsburg. Fr. Joseph Gaspar will be officiating.
Burial will follow in the family plot at Union Cemetery of Hyde Park.
