Obituary for Ted McFall

Harold Edward McFall, “Ted”, 77 of Hyde Park, NY passed away peacefully on February 11, 2018 at Archcare at Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck, NY.
Ted was born in Johnson City, NY on September 4, 1940. He was the son of the late Helen and Archie McFall. He graduated from Union Endicott High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Ketchum, in Endwell on February 20th, 1960. In 1964, they relocated to Dutchess County, where he worked at IBM East Fishkill as a facilities engineer for 30 years. Ted was a member of the Quarter Century Club.
Ted and Carolyn enjoyed 23 years of retirement and living in NE Pennsylvania during the summers and spent winters in Palmetto, Florida. His love of nature and outdoors led to many years of camping and traveling throughout the US and Canada, visiting all of the National Parks. Ted enjoyed cars, especially his beloved TR3, which he loved displaying at local car shows. He was also known for his love of animals and his frequent “adoption” of neighbors’ dogs. Ted could often be found in his garage, “tinkering” as he liked to call it. Ted will always be remembered for his quick wit, wry smile, laughter and enthusiasm for life.
Ted is survived by his wife, Carolyn McFall of Hyde Park, NY; his daughter, Brenda DiTommaso, and her husband, Al, of Poughkeepsie, NY; daughter, Kathy McDougall, and her husband, Tom, of Kill Devil Hills, NC; and son, Tom McFall, and his wife, Vicky, of Pleasant Valley, NY. Ted is also survived by his nine grandchildren, Joseph DiTommaso, Amy (Brennan) Williams, Sheri (Joe) Altieri, Thomas (Anniki) McDougall, Corinne (Greg) Fudacz, Kelly (Mark) Hillard, Shannon McDougall, Cori McFall and Kylie McFall. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Abby, Brady and Ryan, Blake and Kellen, Obrey, Andrew, and Nieve. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas (Al) McFall (Pat), Vestal, NY; two sisters, Tamar Disney, Bellingham, WA., and Bonnie Shea, Winter Spring, FL; and sister in law, Barbara McFall, Johnson City, NY; and beloved nieces and nephews. He also shared his life with many close and dear lifetime friends.
Along with his mother and father, he is predeceased by his two brothers, James and Charles McFall.
Calling hours will be held from 11 am to 1 pm, Saturday, February 17th at the United Methodist Church of Hyde Park, Rte. 9, Hyde Park. Funeral services will follow at 1 pm at church with Reverend Kregg Gabor officiating.
In keeping with Ted’s wishes, cremation will take place. Interment of his ashes will be held at Vestal Hills Cemetery in Vestal, NY at a later date.
