Obituary for Frances L. Wilkinson

Frances L. Wilkinson, 86, a lifelong Poughkeepsie resident, went home to the lord on August 20, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on November 14, 1931 in Poughkeepsie to the late Norman Lane and Dorothy Osterhoudt Lane  Clairmont. She attended Poughkeepsie schools and worked for the telephone company upon graduation.
Fran married James S. Wilkinson, who predeceased her in 2000.
She went on to work for Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie as an Admissions Manager for thirty-five years until her retirement.
After retiring from Vassar, she worked for Hudson Valley Hematology and Oncology as a Medical Records Coordinator for over ten years.
After her second retirement, she volunteered at the Dutchess County SPCA Thrift Shop in Hyde Park until January of this year.
Fran loved to dance and sing, cook, and was an avid bowler. She loved to travel with her girlfriends to many places, especially Myrtle Beach with her best friend, Joyce Schaefer.
Above all, she was a good, kind, hardworking, and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and treasured friend.        She opened her heart to everyone and became a second mother to so many. She will remain in our hearts forever. She was our family’s heart; she gave us comfort; she taught us strength; and loved us unconditionally.
Fran leaves behind her loving children, Jayme DiGiovanni (Steve), Lori Siktberg, Sandra Rangitsch (James), Patti Wilkinson, Timothy Wilkinson (Magdalena), and Joseph Wilkinson; and grandchildren, Stephen and Michael Siktberg, Sara DiGiovanni, Angela Conklin (Dan), and Jade and Scarlet Wilkinson.
She was also blessed to have a great-granddaughter, Brynn Conklin, with whom she shared a special bond.
Surviving also are numerous nieces and nephews, including Jeri and Vic Izzo, and Donna Hosier.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her three brothers, Edward, Frank, and Ernest Lane; and one sister, Elizabeth Litton.
Calling hours will be Thursday August 23rd, 5 to 8pm, at Sweet’s Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.Funeral Services will be 10 AM, Friday, August 24th at the Funeral Home. Rev. Tyler Jones will officiate.
Burial will follow in the family plot at Union Cemetery of Hyde Park.
In lieu of flowers, the Wilkinson family respectfully requests memorial donations to the Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Ave., Hyde Park, NY 12538. (www.dcspca.org)
