Obituary for Florence S. 'Dutch' Beyer

Florence S. 'Dutch' Beyer, 89, a lifelong area resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at her home after a brief illness, with her family at her side.
Born on June 1, 1929 in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Ester Smith. She was one of ten siblings.
Dutch was known for her love for sports. She played on a traveling woman’s softball team and was well known for her fast-pitching arm. She also bowled, and later in life, she became an avid golfer, which became her passion.
Mrs. Beyer had a great love for her cabin in the Adirondacks. It was a place where her and her family made many great memories.
She began her career at Metropolitan Insurance before going on to work for the Hyde Park Central School District and finally, IBM.
On February 8, 1953 she married the love of her life, Frederick 'Buddy' Beyer. He predeceased her in 2016. Oh, what adventures they had!
Her family and friends meant the world to her. She leaves behind her daughter, Ellen Guido and husband, Gary; two beloved granddaughters, LeeAnna Guido and partner, Eric Curran, and Katherine Guido; three great-granddaughters, Audrey and Vivian Guido, and Annaliese Pullman; two sisters, Sharron Smith and Joan Bouchard; and brother, Albert Smith; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Michael J. Beyer; infant son, Frederick Beyer; grandson, Christopher Guido; brothers, Harold and William Smith; and sisters, Anna Bartula, Audrey Cables, Fern Wilson, and Pearl Ryan.
Dutch’s family would like to send a very special thank you to Mary and Mary Ellen Bialosuknia and Joanne Tucker, for their love and support.

There are no calling hours.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Burial of her ashes will be at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
