Obituary for Diane Lynn (Balassone) Campbell

Mrs. Diane Lynn (Balassone) Campbell, 57, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the Eleanor Nursing Care Center in Hyde Park with her husband, daughter, and siblings by her side.
Born on January 4, 1961, she was the daughter of the late Michael J. and Dorothy S. Balassone. She was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School.
Diane was employed by Stop & Shop in the 1980’s. She loved playing bingo; it was her favorite past-time. In fact, it was at a bingo game where she met her husband, Mr. Vernon J. Campbell. They were married on August 10, 1990. Mr. Campbell survives at home.
She is also survived by her daughter, Rose Marie Campbell of Poughkeepsie; brother, Louis Balassone and his companion, Vicky Cipriano, of Rhinebeck; five sisters, Carol and Michele Balassone and Mrs. Dawn Fozo, all of Poughkeepsie, Helen Pease of South Carolina, and Mrs. Donna Croshier of Highland; sister-in-law, Mrs. Anna Mae Place of Poughkeepsie; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Mrs. Joan Mulcahy of Highland.
Diane loved spending holidays at her family’s home. We will miss her for many years to come.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place as soon as possible.
A memorial service and burial of her ashes in the family plot at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Poughkeepsie will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Diane’s family respectfully requests memorial donations to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Dept. 41831, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265 (www.komen.org).
The family would like to thank the Eleanor Nursing Care Center for allowing Diane’s husband to stay with her around the clock, right up to the end. The staff are all terrific and caring people. Also, a special thank you to Hudson Valley Hospice for making Diane’s final days as comfortable as possible.
