Obituary for Carolyn T. Kuhn

Carolyn T. Kuhn, 71, passed on to be with God her Creator on July 28, 2018. Born in Bronx, NY on February 6, 1947, Carolyn spent her happy childhood in Chatham, NY learning the important values of life from her loving parents, the late Frank M. and Nancy Ann Brown. Her life was also blessed with her sister, Nancy, and her son, David. She was a graduate of Chatham Central High school and a very proud graduate of Columbia Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Hudson, NY where she earned her RN degree. She spent many years caring for the sick and elderly in various facilities, the last to be Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck.
In 1982, Carolyn moved with her son, David Brown, to Staatsburg and became the good and faithful wife of Walter D. Kuhn, where they shared thirty-six happy, adventurous and mutually fulfilling years. She was a loving step-mother to Debra, Lisa, and David Kuhn, and grandma to Ashley, Rebecca, Joshua, Cori, Raquel and Mateo, and great-grandma to Caiden and Addison. She was also “mommy” to her many pets which she raised and trained to become titled working and show dogs and was a member of Bear Mountain and Northlands Newfoundland clubs, Newfoundland Club of America and French Bulldog Club of America.
Carolyn always had a smile and a great sense of humor which made her a pleasure to be around. She enjoyed her many friends and relatives and her faith in God, which she maintained beginning in The Lutheran Church in Chatham and lastly with her church family at Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church in Clinton Corners.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Walter, at home; son, David Brown (Maria), and their children, Raquel and Mateo; sister, Nancy Mesick (Paul); Walter’s children, Debra Slizewski ( John), Lisa Keto, and David Kuhn, and their four children and two grandchildren. “Auntie” will also be missed by her sister’s children, Amanda, Josh, Matt, Mike, and Elizabeth; and granddaughter, Rose; and her many cousins; and especially her aunt, Jeanne Larsen.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 pm, Thursday, August 2nd at Sweets Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
Funeral services will be at 10am, Friday August 3rd at the Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Way leading the celebration of Carolyn’s life as it transitions from here on earth to God’s promise of heaven.
