Obituary for Anthony W. Walker

Schenectady, NY – Anthony W. Walker, 83, a former longtime resident of Montvale, NJ and currently of Hadley, NY, died on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
     Born on May 2, 1934 in Hackensack, NJ, he was the son of the late Forbes and Ruth Stoutenburgh Walker.
     Tony worked for Nautilus Pools in Hillsdale, NJ for many years until his retirement. He and his wife, Shirley, moved full time to Hadley in their retirement years.
     Family heritage was very important to Mr. Walker. He was a proud Board Member of the Stoutenburgh – Teller Family Association and caretaker of the Stoutenburgh Family Cemetery in Hyde Park, NY.
    Tony was a parishioner of Trinity Episcopal Church in Garnersville, NY, and St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Lake Luzerne, NY.
     He enjoyed playing golf (and watching it on television) and professional football.
     On October 11, 1969 in Montvale, he married the former Shirley J. Banta. Mrs. Walker survives at home.
     In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Kyle W. Walker and wife, Diane, of Massachusetts and their children, Rachel and Kyle Jr.; daughters, Dawn L. Walker of Stony Point, Bonnie Courtwright and husband, Wayne, of upstate NY, Amy Santo of Texas, and Jennifer Adams and husband, Kenneth, of upstate NY; ten grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
     He is also survived by his two brothers, David Walker and wife, Peg, of Massachusetts, and Forbes Walker Jr. of Florida; sister, Sally Henry of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
     In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Walker.
     Calling hours will be from 1 to 4:30 pm, Friday, March 16th at Sweet’s Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
     A funeral service will be held at 4 pm during the visitation. Fr. Chuck Kramer will officiate.
     In keeping with his wishes, cremation and burial of his ashes in the Stoutenburgh Family Cemetery will take place at the convenience of the family.
