Obituary for Allen Deragon

Allen Deragon, 80, of Hyde Park, passed away on Wednesday, February 21st, 2018 at Florida Hospital in Orlando, Florida.

Born on July 15th, 1937 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of the late Eugene and Ellen (Reidenger) Deragon.

Al was a member of many organizations, including the Sons of the American Legion, Roger's Point Boat Club, Greenhaven Gun Club, Friends of the Cider Mill, the Hyde Park Historical Society, Poughkeepsie Elks Club #275, and Trout Unlimited.

Allen worked in the quality control department at IBM for over 35 years.

On July 21, 1957 at Hedding Methodist Church in Poughkeepsie, he married the former Virginia Gaddis. Last year, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Deragon survives at home.

In addition to his wife, Al is survived by son, Shawn Deragon, of Poughkeepsie; son, Drew Deragon, and his wife, Kathy, of Poughkeepsie; daughter, Kristen Hamilton, and her husband, Bruce, of Lake Mary, FL; grandchildren: Amy Smith, of Poughkeepsie; Michelle and Matthew Deragon, of Poughkeepsie; Kasey Hamilton, of Maitland, FL; and Bruce Hamilton, of Virginia Beach; and great-grandchildren: Maxen and Penelope Smith, of Poughkeepsie, and Aria Hamilton, of Virginia Beach, VA.

Calling hours will be from 4-7pm on Thursday, March 1st at Sweet’s Funeral Home, Route 9, Hyde Park.

A funeral service will be at 10am on Friday, March 2nd at the funeral home. Rev. Arlene Dawber will be officiating.

Burial will follow at Union Cemetery of Hyde Park.
