Obituary for Alida M. 'Pat' VanAckooy

Alida M. Van Ackooy, affectionately known as ‘Pat’, 89, a longtime Hyde Park resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 6, 2018 at the Pines at Poughkeepsie Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Poughkeepsie on June 9, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Ann Allers Fisher. She was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School.
Pat was a homemaker and a former member of the Roosevelt Engine Co. #3 Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed reading forensic crime novels and playing games including rummy and boggle. Pat also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and loved her pure-bred Persian Cats.
On April 17, 1949, she married Gysbertus “Gus’ Van Ackooy, Jr. Gus predeceased her on January 4, 2008.
Survivors include her twin sons, Robert Van Ackooy and Howard Van Ackooy and wife, Maureen, and their daughter, Brooke, all of Hyde Park. .
She is also survived by her brother, Bobby Fisher and wife, Alice of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.; brother, Howard Fisher and wife, Betty Jo, of Hyde Park; sister, Grace Tabor of Highland; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Ann.
Calling hours will be from 1 to 4 pm, Sunday, June 10th at Sweet’s Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
Funeral services will be at 10 am, Monday, June 11th at the Funeral Home with Rev. Arlene Dawber officiating.
Burial will follow in the family plot at Union Cemetery of Hyde Park.
