Obituary for Alexander (Sandy) Mozdzierz

Hyde Park, NY

Alexander (Sandy) Mozdzierz, born October 5, 1945, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 with his family at his side. Sandy was the son of the late Florence (Fluffy) Trojan Bank and Alex Mozdzierz who died while serving his country in World War II. On May 13, 1972, he married Marjorie Funk at St. Peter's Church in Hyde Park. Mrs. Mozdzierz survives him at home.  

In addition to his wife, Sandy is survived by his beloved daughter Laura and her husband Nino Piccone and his pride and joy – his grandson Noah and granddaughter Cecilia. He is also survived by his sister Diane Hicks and her husband Ron and his brother Peter Walaszek and his wife Patricia and several nieces and nephews.

Sandy attended Roosevelt High School and graduated from Poughkeepsie High School in 1963. He worked for IBM Poughkeepsie and Fishkill, retiring in 1992. He then opened a small computer repair business. Sandy enjoyed refurbishing his classic Mercedes Benz, watching sports, working on computers and fishing. He loved the ocean and spent many vacations in Florida and at the Jersey shore.

Calling hours will be from 2pm-5pm on Saturday July 21st at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., 4365 Albany Post Rd., Hyde Park. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or online at https://www.stjude.org/donate.
